Importance of Feedback

What is Feedback?

The Business Dictionary states that feedback is “the information sent to an entity (individual or a group) about its prior behavior so that the entity may adjust its current and future behavior to achieve the desired result.” And it is important to note that feedback is a two- way street – there is always a giver and receiver when it comes to feedback.

And what many organizations don’t realize is that feedback isn’t limited to performance evaluations and customer feedback reports. Feedback can be written, formal or informal, verbal or nonverbal, direct or indirect– even silence can be considered a type of feedback. And to add to that, individuals also have their own unique way of delivering feedback.

And with all these alternative methods, it’s no wonder there’s often an abundance of miscommunication in the workplace.
